It’s weird that I could relate so much to this guy, aside from the fact that I’m a “Black” female. I also related very much to the kid from “I Was A Teenage Zombie Apocalypse” and to Dexter from the television series. I’m an introverted loner who talks very much inside my head and I feel like I’m acting my way through life all the time. I credit the social skills that I do have to my job in customer service, which I started in high school. Of course, I’ve never killed anyone…except for a handful of people in my mind…am I a sociopath? Disturbing! Anyway, good story!

Fucked-up fellow; the greatest irony is that if, perchance, he has some skills from his… “experiences” that trnsfer into combat, then he’s more likely to survive than a lot of the more… morally upright individuals out there.

I really got a Holden Cauffield feeling from this character (Catcher and the Rye) but with an obvious zombie panic theme in the background. That, and he killed the dancer/stripper/party-girl/shower abuser chick.

But point being, I really liked Catcher and the Rye, and to see it in a MUCH darker light was very cool!

Hey folks, thanks for the kind words.

Yeah, go on ahead and write this guy in a good story, Andre. I really would like to see how he tries to integrate with survivors, but considering how close he lives next to Chicago, he’d definitely have to move his base of operations eventually. The only thing immediate I could think of is a “spider’s den” type of scenario where survivors think they have it made, only to be chucked into the proverbial frying pan.

And Adam, thanks for the Sallinger allusion, but ironically, I have never read “Catcher in the Rye”. I really should, just because it’s a classic I managed to miss.

I had to go back and look for the dashes.. I think someone just has it out for dashes.. leave the dashes alone. They aren’t hurting anyone.

Some fifteen years ago or so a friend showed me a book called “Wetwrok” which was a collection of short stories based in the Zombie world. I cannot find it anywhere now, only a single narrative by the same title. This story would have found a great home in that book. It was really interesting and well written. All the more scary because you know that a sicko like this guy would survive a Z war.

I would like to see this guy as part of a larger narrative, perhaps one where he is one of ten or so characters that end up together trying to make it to a safe zone. Think about it or give me permission to work him into one I am writing.
