Now that reeks of HP Lovecraft. In a good way of course, but then how could it be bad.

Absolutly loved it, and I suppose that you might be a Times reader. Good choice.

This is the very best zombie short story I've ever read! I love the origin of the outbreak and I loved all the characters. I could picture everyone, from the villagers to the mad scientist's wife chained up in the woods. I must admit, I'm a sucker for a resolved ending, especially a "happy" ending...as happy as you can get in a zombie story. You did good, Pete! You did good!

This is one of the finest shorts I have ever read. Please for the sake of Queen and country, keep writing. This story has hints of Zombie and The Island of Dr. Morrou. (I know I spelled that wrong) With a few changes this could be a novel. Keep up the good work.

I really do like this story. I love how it mixes that sort of voodoo-ish magicky feel with the tension and horror of a viral outbreak, as well as adding a dash of mad scientist to it. It makes the story very interesting to read, and really kept me interested.

What I'd like to see is a story about a British sailor caught in a voodoo-zombie-infested port city in the Caribbean...

Great story. Truly a great story. Reminiscent of some of the historical attack references in the back of the Zombie Survival Guide.

Good story. Not having read Lovecraft, I'll stick with some comparison with Doyle. Good touches. good historical referance and voice. I did find it a tad long in the beginning, and found myself jumping ahead. Once the it took off, the pace picked up and it was a good read. The voice was good. It captured the times well. Also did a good job on the formal language style.
