Congrats Vince! I emphasized with Joseph and pitied the groups situation. I wish it had been longer!

Bill's hand was shaking when he handed him the knife. Joseph took it with his left hand; held it up and looked at his reflection in the blade. His eyes no longer had a haunted look. Just so. At least now he didn’t have to worry about becoming a monster, either because he’d given up his humanity or because some zombie had ‘shared the love’; that would inevitably happen, if he didn’t take steps. Freedom is… nothing left to lose.

Xie-xie! Thanks for all the good words... Sorry I haven't been to the site, that much.

This is sorta fanfic, as the situation comes from my West Texas Zombie Game. I wrote a sequel, where Joseph gets bit, but, in the game, there was a much happier ending!

(You'd think, in a genre with so many unhappy endings, that I go for TPK, but, not so much...)

Leave a comment Quite good. I liked it a lot. Not a lot of gore, just two people dealing with the facts of a new world. Well done.

For some reason, this reminded me of "Speaker for the Dead", the Ender story.

Same kind of feel to it.

Very well done!

Vincent,

That was a quite beautiful idea, well executed with a deft touch. Zombies seem to bring the best out of peorple, and the worst, but Joseph had a real dignity to him.

More please.

I really liked this. I've always wondered how it wear on people who had to put down infected. This is a solid take. It might be interesting to see how Joseph handles it in the future.
